2019 Snow Country Match 1 Results – November 17, 2018

Match One (1) of the 2019 Snow Country was fired at Muskegon and Monroe this morning.  A total of twelve (12) competitors competed.

Of note in F-Class, Steve Jones fired two 10X cleans to start the year.  Quite a performance, moreover he finished the day with a 599-52X.  Makes you wonder what happened with the one nine (9)….

Next scheduled matches are in December.  Howell has the first of December, and then Monroe on the 22nd.  Look in “Events” for more information about future matches.

2018 Suburban Mid-Range Prone Match 5 Results

I believe we figured out that fall had begun this morning.  When I filled my gas tank at Meijer’s I realized that I didn’t bring a coat.  Moreover, I figured that I needed a coat.  On checking the temperature at about 8:30 AM I noted that it was a balmy 41 degrees F.  A coat would have been nice….

At any rate, we had ten (10) shooters.  Five (5) F-Open, three (3) F-TR, and two sling shooters, who were actually glad to be wearing their sweatshirts and shooting jackets.

The high F-Open competitor was Tony Dekelaita with a 593-26X.  High F-TR was Charles Hayes with a 589-24X.  Lastly, high sling shooter was Leo Cebula with a 594-25X.  Leo had the only “clean” of the day in the last stage with a 200-11X.

2018 Michigan Mid-Range Prone Championship Results

It was the best of times, it was the worse of times….

Saturday, September 1, 2018 started out as a good, if a little humid day.  More importantly all the targets were operational (all eight), and we had twenty-five (25) competitors.  Towards the end, however, things got nasty.

The photos are of my home office with the score sheets arrayed to dry.  It got wet.

However, some very good performances were recorded:

Any Rifle Champion:  Chris Whitney  597-37

F-Open Champion:  Marcel Bollinger  600-37  (I believe this to be the first 600 clean shot at Midland on a 300-500-600 course of fire – Outstanding performance)

F-TR Champion:  Josh Moore:  599-41

Junior Champion:  Sydnie Lipski  598-39

2018 Suburban Mid-Range Prone Match 4 Results

It was almost a perfect day.  Not too hot, but good enough to work on your farmer’s tan, while comfortable.  Even competing with Cadillac we had fourteen shooters.

The high F-Open was Terry Scurlock with a 590-17X.  High F-TR was Steve Goyette with a 594-24X.  Lastly, using three different rifles, high sling shooter was Leo Cebula with a 594-27X.

2018 Suburban Mid-Range Prone Match 3 Results

Saturday, July 14, 2018 was supposed to be dry all day.  Unfortunately, the Rain God decided that we should have some weather to start the day.  After about an hour and a half delay and covering the new firing line we finally got under way.

More than a couple of comments were made regarding the new, level 600 yard firing line.  I, personally, found it very pleasant to fire off of.  It will really be nice after the line receives its sodding at the end of September.

The delay didn’t affect Ray Gross, whose 600-40X topped the sling shooters.  This was the second 600 Ray has capped this year.  A really impressive performance with an iron sighted Palma Rifle. John Roethlisberger was the high F-TR shooter with a 598-29X, and Ed Gostomski was the high F-Open shooter with a 597-28X.  All and all a good day for a match.

Our next league match is:  August 11, 2018.  Program is:  2018 Suburban Mid-Range Prone League.

2018 Suburban Mid-Range Prone League Match 2

After four-five days in the 90’s, Saturday the 2nd of June dawned in the low 50’s. Admittedly, it didn’t seem like it had been in the 90’s long enough to “thin” our blood, but Saturday morning was damn cold.  And, frankly, done of the eleven (11) competitors were really prepared for the chill.

After an eTarget near debacle for the Michigan Fullbore Championship a week ago, today everything, I mean everything worked.  Even equipment that had been patched from the prior weekend worked flawlessly.  There is something psychic that happens to our eTargets when we run a registered match.  I don’t understand it….

Had one interesting score today, Ray Gross returned to sling shooting with a vengeance.  He was high sling shooter with an outstanding 600-35X.  Really fine shooting.

In the F-Open category, Steve Goyette bested the field with a 592-21X.  For F-TR Richard Dixon blasted a 587-25X to set the pace.

2018 Michigan Fullbore Rifle Championship Results

On one of the first days this year that it was actually hot, 19 competitors completed the Michigan Fullbore Rifle Championship.  We had a few no shows, and three withdrawals (heat, rifle issues were the major culprits).

Then the Techno-Gods decided to strike.  First two targets failed to function, then after finding a broken cable on one, and just a loose connection on the other, we did our move to 500.  Where upon, our master server died by issuing an error message, and could not be convinced to resurrect itself.  That forced the use of the targets directly, which worked okay, except not all targets had the 500 yard F-Class and Target rifle targets.  After finding away through that goat rodeo, we moved to 600 yards, where all of the targets operated.  Amazingly, we didn’t finish much later than we expected.

We had eight (8) F-Open competitors, Mark Ruhlman of Charlevoix was the F-Open Champion with a score of 443-9X.

In the F-TR category we had six (6) competitors, with John Pierce besting Josh Moore with a 444-25X, bettering Josh with a 443-22X.

Lastly amongst the sling shooters, we had five (5) competitors.  Dan Altman from Ohio won with a 449-32X. Dan becomes the match winner, but because he is not a Michigan resident, the second place shooter, Chris Whitney with a 448-24X became the Michigan Target Rifle Champion.
