The Michigan Mid-Range Prone Championship was held on September 3, 2011 at the Midland County Sportsman's Club. Eighteen competitors patiently waited out heavy thunder-storms and heavy downpours to complete an abbreviated course of fire. Relay one was on the line, relay three was in the pits, and relay two was studying the radar maps on their smartphones. At first it looked like it might pass us with just a little sprinkle, but then a bolt of lightening cracked a few hundred yards away. At that point we decided to pick up our gear, and retire to the MCSC club house. After waiting about one and a half hours, and voting on the course of fire, we were able to return to the line, and start the 600 yard matches. With just a little sunshine we completed the two 600 yard matches and crowned Any Rifle and F-TR Champions for 2011. The Any Rifle winner was Ken Orris with a 349-18X, besting Peter Church with a 348-16X. The F-TR Champion was Bob Lorenz (of Cadillac fame) with a 343-10X. Congratulations to Ken and Bob! |
